What exactly is licorice?

Black licorice candy contains real licorice. It consists of the roots of the licorice plant. It can also be spelled licorice. Except in name, red licorice is not licorice at all. It’s just a red candy that can be made with many different flavorings, consisting of the following:

  1. Strawberry
  2. Cherry
  3. Raspberry
  4. Cinnamon

Despite its name, red licorice rarely contains licorice extract. Rather, red licorice is imbued with chemicals that impart its strawberry and cherry flavors. Items that consist of real Licorice are labeled as such and list licorice section or glycyrrhizic acid among the component.

What is licorice made from?

Glycyrrhiza glabra

As most of you may know, Licorice consists of an extract from the licorice root. Glycyrrhiza glabra is the legume born in parts of Europe and Asia, and the root of the plant is where licorice candy gets its bold flavor.

I bought your licorice for

Review by David C. on 25 Nov 2022

I bought your licorice for Christmas stocking stuffers but have yet to try them. If the licorice is anything like the packaging, I’m sure it’s excellent!

Tawnie Harris recommends Licorice.com.

While the candy is delicious, I was disappointed with how my sampler gift pack arrived! I bought a couple of tubes and a sampler gift pack for a co-worker. The quality and flavor of the product are great. No complaints there. But the packaging looks like someone tried to rip it into the box. I cannot give this as a gift, as the sampler tubes are destroyed. Very disappointed since I spent 60 dollars on it.

Valerie Mokslaveskas May Perkins doesn’t recommend Licorice.com.

My $95 order did not arrive when it was scheduled for delivery (2-day Fed Ex). I sent an email to them, and they responded after several days that they had refunded me the $9.95 shipping charge! They did not mention my order. Are they resending it, or what?

I will not order from them again and hope that either my order is delivered or that they refund my money.

  1. My husband and I bought from them 4x’s. They overcharged him once but the customer service was really nice and returned what they over charged. I think the licorice is very good and tasty. I went to go and reorder and was going to purchase the 12 bundle. I had picked out everything I wanted but I couldn’t add it to my cart. They do not have a phone number to call anymore so I emailed them .. not once .. not twice .. not three times .. FOUR times and they still have NOT emailed me back on this problem. If they cannot take the time to email me back, they just lost a very good customer(s). I guess they have gotten too popular to care about their customers, and how will I trust them if there is a problem with an order, if they cannot even email me back. By the way, I would give them a no zero if I was able to !!

  2. I ordered a 3 one pound trio as a mother’s day special. The black licorice, if you like black licorice, is great. The other 2 one pound tubes had assorted flavors, and 1 that was completely red. The flavors were horrible. I cannot even describe what they were supposed to be. They were not identifiable as a flavor I am familiar with. Just horrible. Now this is 3 adults and 2 nine year olds that tasted them. After biting a small piece off no one would eat the rest of the piece and threw it in the garbage. Now I am stuck with 2 one pound tubes that no one will eat. I contacted the company and basically they would not send 2 ponds of black to replace those awful flavors. They said that everyone has a different palate. No customer satisfaction guarantee. I will never order from the or their affiliates again.

  3. This company literally ONLY cares about it’s productivity! If you are looking to be valued as a person/employee….this is not the company/job for you! God forbid you have anything else going on in your life. They don’t care and on the next! Steve so called manager…not sure how he worked his way to that position, does not care about his employees at all!
